Fine Forgiveness
During National Library Week, April 7th thru April 13th 2024, the Kings County Library system will be holding Fine Forgiveness Week. During this week, you can return your overdue materials to any Kings County Library and your fines will be forgiven up to $25.00. If you have existing fines on your card, please come in and ask to have fines waived up to $25.00. Additionally, if you have lost your library card, the $2.00 replacement fee will be waived.

Fine Forgiveness FAQs:

1. Can you waive fines for items owed from other jurisdictions (Fresno, Tulare, Kern, etc)?

We can waive fines from other jurisdictions for items that you turn in that week, not for existing fines on your account.

2. What if I have already paid my fines?

We are unable to issue refunds for fines paid before Fine Forgiveness Week. Fines paid before April 7th, 2024 will not be refunded. However, all your money goes to supporting your local Kings County Library, so thank you!

3. Can I get Fine Forgiveness even I do not return the material?

No. You must have returned the items to have your fines or fees waived.

4. Can I have overdue fines waived on my children’s accounts?

Yes!

5. What is the amount of fines that exist on my account I can have waived?

If you have under $25.00 in existing fines on your account for items that were returned late or lost, we will waive up to $25.00.

6. I am in collections because I owe more than $50 to the library. Can I get my fines and fees waived too?

No. Once you have been sent to a collection agency, we will not be waiving those fines. Please talk to a staff member about making payments.
