Kings County is located in the southern San Joaquin Valley which is part of California’s Central Valley. It is home to NAS Lemoore, the U.S. Navy’s largest master jet station. Kings County is a rich agricultural region that provides the foundation for the county’s economy; crops include cotton, corn, alfalfa, various nuts, and fruits.
Some of the nation’s most modern and productive dairy farms are based in Kings County with 84% of the land area devoted to farm land and over 1100 farms. The average farm size in Kings County is 681 acres. Other important employers include NAS Lemoore, Kings County, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation which operates three state prisons in the county.
