Dr. Salo Stanley will talk about healing with sound therapy. Sound therapy puts us in a relaxed mood and helps us to regain that sense of joy and creativity we had when we were children. Dr. Stanley will use crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, and a native American flute to introduce the audience to sound therapy and how it feels.
One World Rhythm creates an interactive, in-the-moment music experience by placing a drum, percussion, or melodic instrument into the hands of every participant, then guiding them through an adventure to find their own rhythm and make music together.
Travis Brooks, local musician from the band Saltwater, formerly of Doc’s Holiday, will be facilitating a music workshop just for teens. Teens will have the opportunity to build their very own cigar box guitar and take it home.
Travis will share the remarkable history of this musical instrument, as well as teach participants to play a few bars to start them on their musical journey. No experience necessary, but this workshop has a limited number of openings, please register in advance.
CelloJoe is the world’s only beatboxing, long distance bicycling, looping cellist, who has created his own unique genre: Classical Hip Hop. CelloJoe records live on stage with a loop pedal and produces intricate tapestries of harmony, melody, and rhythm. His beatboxing (vocal percussion) and funky cello grooves form a rich soundscape showcasing his talents. He has toured the world sharing music on a bicycle packed with his cello.
