Newspaper Holdings (Microfilm)
Our newspaper holdings are not comprehensive, especially for the smaller communities. At present the Library has microfilm records for the following newspapers:
At Hanford Branch Library
- Avenal Progress 1986 - Present
- Avenal Times 1980 - 1982
- Corcoran Journal 1971 - Present
- Hanford Journal 1891 - 1954 (holdings incomplete)
- Hanford Sentinel 1907 - Present (holdings incomplete)
At Lemoore Branch Library
- Lemoore Advance 1971 - Present
Photocopies are only available at the Hanford Branch location. If you are wishing to make copies from the Lemoore Advance, please contact the Hanford Branch reference staff in advance to make arrangements for the specific film to be made available at the Hanford building.
To obtain copies of obituaries or other items from these papers:
- Visit the Hanford Branch Library,
- Visit your local library and ask them to request the microfilm from us. The Kings County Library will loan newspaper microfilm to other public and academic libraries for in library use, OR
- Send a written request to the Hanford Branch reference staff. There is a $10 fee per citation for non-residents of Kings County. Requests must include the name of the individual, date of death, and payment for obituaries. For other articles we would recommend that you contact us prior to making payment. We cannot refund the fee if we are unable to locate an obituary or article.
