Run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Family History Center has a wealth of free genealogy information. Family History Centers are branch facilities of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Centers provide access to most of the microfilms and microfiche in the Family History Library to help patrons identify their ancestors. Everyone is welcome to come to the centers to use their resources. Note: Because of limited staff, Family History Centers cannot respond to mail inquires.

The San Joaquin Valley Heritage & Genealogy Center was created in 1993 as a cooperative effort of the Fresno County Public Library and the Fresno County Genealogical Society. It unites the Library's local and California historical collections with the extensive library of the Society. Total holdings consist of approximately 30,000 books and pamphlets, 5,000 microforms, 300 CD-ROMs, and many other types of research materials.
