Music Composition Workshop Lecture

During this lecture, Jay Rossette will highlight some of his personal experiences in the valley music scene, and discuss how music is created. He will talk about song inspirations, working with musicians, solo songwriting, basic musical form, and how to compose simple tunes so that the audience can see exactly which elements are used to construct songs.

Marshall Magoon Magic

Magician Marshall Magoon is in demand as an illusion designer for the San Francisco Ballet, Hollywood films and Broadway shows, yet he relishes his role as a family entertainment Magician who creates unforgettable magical experiences for children and adults alike with his special blend of magic skill, music, and comedy.

Teen Cigar Box Guitar Build and Play

Travis Brooks, local musician from the band Saltwater, formerly of Doc’s Holiday, will be facilitating a music workshop just for teens. Teens will have the opportunity to build their very own cigar box guitar and take it home.

Travis will share the remarkable history of this musical instrument, as well as teach participants to play a few bars to start them on their musical journey. No experience necessary, but this workshop has a limited number of openings, please register in advance.

Fratello Marionettes

The Fratello Marionettes produce high quality marionette shows where every last detail is designed and built by the performers themselves. 'The Vaudeville Follies,' a marionette variety show, is presented in the spirit of the old time music hall. The puppeteers perform in full view of the audience with marionettes that can be up to three feet tall, and include singers, dancers, clowns, trick marionettes, and a trained dog!

Healing with Sound Therapy

Dr. Salo Stanley will talk about healing with sound therapy. Sound therapy puts us in a relaxed mood and helps us to regain that sense of joy and creativity we had when we were children. Dr. Stanley will use crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, and a native American flute to introduce the audience to sound therapy and how it feels.

One World Rhythm

One World Rhythm creates an interactive, in-the-moment music experience by placing a drum, percussion, or melodic instrument into the hands of every participant, then guiding them through an adventure to find their own rhythm and make music together.

CelloJoe

CelloJoe is the world’s only beatboxing, long distance bicycling, looping cellist, who has created his own unique genre: Classical Hip Hop. CelloJoe records live on stage with a loop pedal and produces intricate tapestries of harmony, melody, and rhythm. His beatboxing (vocal percussion) and funky cello grooves form a rich soundscape showcasing his talents. He has toured the world sharing music on a bicycle packed with his cello.

SRP Sign-Up Week

Stop by the library this week to sign up for the "Read to the Rhythm" Summer Reading Program sponsored by the Friends of the Kings County Library! The "Read to the Rhythm" Summer Reading Program will take place Monday, June 8 - Friday, July 24 and events will be held at all Kings County Library locations with events for all ages.
